Any early oil changers out there?

All,

Is M1 really the more popular selection for oil?

I have been an ardent fan of M1 15W50 for my other car. Before that was Castrol 20W50, 10W60. Now, I have Elf 5W30, 10W50 in that car and I love it. Oil temps are better even under the worst track conditions.

What about Motul? I am thinking of setting up a wholesale account with them.

So, You all would not use a 5w-30 non synthetic break in run for the first few k miles

EX. drive home ( 100 mile ) change to 5w-30 for first 5000 mile (100mile to 5000 mile) then change back to synthetic for change every 5000.

Run a non synthetic oil for the first 5000 mile. Many of the Harley riders around here are doing this with their new bikes to set the rings and improve compression. They say the synthetic is too slippery for breaking in the motor.

They say........I'd just love to see the engineering study proving that. From my viewpoint, why would you take the extremely well engineered oil OUT of the little motor at the time of it's greatest stress? (Break-in)

Unfortunately, we are the engineering study. Time will tell whether it has made any difference in running a 30W dino for the first 100 miles or keeping the Synth in for the first 500 or first 10K. An old thread mentioned european smarts going in at 60K for engine rebuilds, that started the break-in, dino oil discussion. We'll see?
