Calling all Pure reservists

I know there are hardly any of us. All the more reason to get our own thread going.

My reason was I couldn't have a clear roof. I work in a 3 floor tenement area and the glass roof might prove attractive to rocks.

Also, I wanted to see how my $12,920 configured car could compare with "economy" cars. Naturally, ABS, traction control, electronic Stability control, and panic-stop assist would place it way over the $9,500 Hyundai Accent.

What I added were the essentials: air, base radio, and alarm. Plus the extravagance of red panels because I like red - even if it is tomato red not fire engine red.

My dealer is www.smartcenterwarwick.com (Owned by Penske's United Auto Group). My number is 1185 - I configured Nov. 7, 2007. I have NOT received any email on my unit having gone into production yet. Rhode Island is back on the configuration track because a passion reservist here just got her invitation to configure last night.

Looking forward to hearing from the rest of you "less passionate" reservists.

nor will you. i didn't get any message other than the form letters until i heard from my dealer. they don't notify you that your car is being or has been produced, but if you are an 1185, it likely has been.

I'm with you. All I'm opting for is factory alarm and A/C. Getting their basic or step up radio doesn't make sense to me as they do not offer the sub woofer option. The Pure will come equipped with speakers and wiring so I can opt for an aftermarket unit with all the bells and whistles including SAT of my choice. I might also go for the fog lights if it turns out they are not glorified parking lights.

I will be looking to add the following and still wind up OK budget wise:

Chrome package
Chrome baby moon hub caps
Arm rest
CRUISE control
Scan guage

I can live without the paddles since they are worthless when turning and needing to shift gears at the same them.

Power steering is not really needed. I never turn the wheels when not rolling to avoid scuff wear anyhow.

I can turn on my lights and wipers, as well as turn them off.

Living in FL the opportunity that exists to have to lower my windows is rare since I use SunPass for tolls.

A clear glass top is great when stopped, but who looks up while driving? BTW, during my road test, the screen still let in sun and heat.

The deal breaker could be that I lose a spoke for my steering wheel.

You may not be 'Passionate' but remember , that's what keeps you 'Pure'.

I have never gotten over the new 1988 Plymoth Colt that I bought with speakers in place & radio ready. The AM reception was horrible - I am an NPR fan. Naturally things should have improved in 20 years. Though the Colt was a Mitsubishi and I am not a burnt twice guy.

Same with me. It is one of the few things on up-scale models that I feel are noteworthy. My 2000 Dodge Caravan Sport has them.

I will be parallel parking 5 or 6 times a day. The tires will have to live with it. But I hit the gym 2 - 3 times a week, why not use a little muscle in the car as well - my wife swears she'll never drive it anyway. I don't even know if she'll ride in it. She says I should park "the toy" on my dresser at night!

My "ideal" car since I was a kid has always been the Citroen. It had "one" spoke. This is the closest I can afford to that. Besides, the arrogant French (as I am), won't make a model to conform to US standards anyway.

Now there are two of us identified. Where are the rest?

I was happy to see a Pure thread when I logged on today! It definitely seems like they're aren't many of us around.

I'm an 1192 in Bedford, TX that confirmed on November 17 and still haven't heard a thing about when to expect delivery.

Here's what I ordered:
  • Black/silver
  • Air conditioning
  • Six disc radio upgrade

Like you guys, I didn't care about the power steering, electric windows, panorama roof, electric mirrors, etc. The only reason I ordered the radio upgrade is because I assumed that the extra speakers and sub-woofer were included. After discovering later that wasn't the case, I wish I hadn't ordered a radio at all, but it's too late now.

I didn't really like the factory alloy wheels either and am hoping that the steel wheels under the hub caps are silver. If so, I'll just run the car without the hub caps. Anybody know what color the wheels are?

I do hope you really tried them out just to be sure you do not like them in actual use; I have found that manual paddle shifting *really* adds to the fun factor and actual benefit of keeping both hands on the wheel when shifting. All of the 4 cars we've have had them on turn with the wheel and it never had been a problem - you can paddle shift when turning and its no thing at all (and if you really want to shift when turning the wheel to the extreme that it displaces your hands you can use the stick, but I have not found that actually happens much if at all).

Enjoy your Pure, but I'm just say'n try the paddle shifting before you write it off

Even F1 cars have the paddles turn with the wheel ;)

Hi! Mine's waiting at the dealer since Thursday! Am a 1175. All I wanted was metallic blue and air, and it's arrived. Trying to get my credit union's loan instead of the store brand's... Yep, my pure's here!

Congratulations. Yours is the first Pure delivered on the forum. I know they have been delivered to dealerships (Easy to spot the hubcaps off loading the trailers.)

Who's your dealer?

Take care, Larry

I was totally psyched to use them, and did so at my Road Trip drive. Maybe I'm mistaken but I seem to remember that the paddles did NOT turn with the steering wheel, but were static and affixed to the steering post?????????
