I know Fairfieid has delivered over 30 cars, so someone must know what they are charging. My car is about 3 weeks out from delivery there, so I will report back if knobody else does sooner.

San Antonio tried to charge a $100 for etching windows. I said no way, and that I would contact smartUSA for a different delivery, even if I had to pay transport. That $100 went away fast.

Thank you geochemistry. Sounds like they are trying to make up for the 50.00 doc fee limit. Were you buying an orphan, or a smart that you had reserved and waited for?

roslyn fees-rallye motors

$65 to the dealer. I also paid the dealer $120 for the plates and registration and I received a separate receipt from DMV for that amount. All seemed very up and up. I remember asking the sales manager at Rallye about fees based on all the issues I have been reading about here and he told me the amount is capped by NY Law.

That however didn't stop an unscrupulous NY Hyundai dealer from trying to charge my daughter a $499 fee on her new Elantra. When she refused to pay it they backed down and removed it!

I'd be interested too as Fairfield will probably be my dealer.

Ok, So we still need:
Somerville Ma

and Warwick RI

IF anyone knows any add on fees from these dealerships, like doc fees,
Please post them here.

THANK YOU

Re Devon PA ... taking delivery 5/27/2008 doc fee is $75. Must have had a price increase since the $55 reported by Orphan-Beggar on 4/1/2008

as you know, smart dealers are NOT the only ones charging 'fees'. all new car dealers have been doing this for years.

BUT last week i was reading an ad on 'autotrader.com' for a used smart (less than 200 miles....used? NO, just bought to resell for PROFIT only) and the USED CAR DEALER charges something like $499.00 for a 'doc fee'.

a USED CAR DEALER!!!! and you guys thought the smart dealers were bad.........

smart center Fairfield "charges a 'conveyence' fee of $299 to cover all the paper work, etc" per Dave at smart center Fairfield.
