I got to 87 once . . . once.

About two weeks after I got my smart I was all alone on I-495 around DC (this never, ever happens).
I decided to push it to the limit(er).
I got up to what the nice man on the motorcycle told me was 87mph.

That's when he flashed his very patriotic red/white/blue lights and asked me to pull over.

He asked lots of questions about the car. Pulled his bike beside and found that his bike was about 3" longer.

Laughed and told me to keep it at the posted speed limit (55) and rode away.

Such a nice, polite young man, but I hope I never see him again (in a professional capacity).

I now just keep up with the other vehicles on the road.

YES you can do 90 easily

Although people in SUV's and sports cars don't take too kindly to the little bugger passing them....

I got the cabrio I was in to an indicated 85 on 270 Saturday, without even trying. I'm just glad there weren't any officers around

I hit 110mph in the Aveo 2 weeks ago. It's very jittery and really doesn't want to track straight. Driving the Aveo at that speed requires complete concentration and nerves of steel.

BTW it was a 1 mile open stretch of highway with no other cars (about 11pm).

And I hit 90mph on a run to Chicago in the Envoy and again in the PT Snoozer.

I plan to take Lil' Lucky to the limiter a few times when I get it.

Anybody up for some speed? Homepage Main Menu: Flat Out On A Public Highway! (home.htm)

I had mine held at the computes limit for about 20 minutes on I=10 between New Orleans and Baton Rouge...

Though there were still some people passing me! But that is kind of normal for that stretch of highway.

ANyway.. the speedo said 93mph.. but the GPS would not indicate over 89.

We just drove to Tampa on I-75 and as always I start at 70mph (posted limit) and then as usual I end up going faster. Not one police car was to be seen in either direction, because usually there's a whole fleet of troopers raking in the money on that stretch.
On the way back with fast traffic the car was averaging 80-85 easily. Getting to 90 is not an issue, but the mileage drop is. No A/c was used with cold 48 degrees.

When I first got my license I hit 98 (in my Escort ZX2) on the Garden State Parkway and scared myself half way to hell. I never go faster than 75 these days, its not worth the consequences (whether that be a ticket or an accident)
