who is gvoeller? and why do i get the feeling thats the last thing i should do :-p , but yea 18ish doesnt seem that bad. now i was reading that if you took off the side bars to make it full convert , it wont fully close until they are put back , so if i leave it open w/o bars , and it starts to rain , it wont auto-close all the way?

That is correct. I've only removed the bars from mine a handful of times. No need really. In fact, I usually leave the windows closed, even with the top open, get too much wind for my taste with the windows open. IMO, removing the bars is only worthwhile for looks, not for driving fun.

how much for smart cabriolet in TX

Bought ours in Nov and paid just under 21K including taxes, tags, title, Lojack, floor mats and storage cover. Yes, a few other things but did not go for extended warranty. At about 5.5% loan rate with no money down our payment is just at $505 per month for 60 months. Keep in mind that TX does not have state income tax so sales tax is very high.
