The Cash for clunkers is going to make it even harder to sell used cars for a while.

If you can get more by trading in your old car for NEW then why go private and loose money

Chad;
Something to think about........
If we beat ourselves (and or others) up and dwell on what we perceive to be our mistakes/misfortunes: It is called PENITENCE

If we learn and add to our life experience from our mistakes/misfortunes: It is called TUITION

I am, no doubt, a lot older than you, and unfortunately I didn't learn this until I was a lot older. This is an opportunity to have a jump on your peers.

With kindest regards

This car has dropped $6500 in the last 6 months by far the worst car value i :
This is why I purchased a used Pure for $11,999. I know the value is going to nose dive. Two seat cars are not very popular to begin with and gas prices have dropped $1.50 per gal in the last year. I wanted a new convertible but knew it would lose to much value.

I bought a new Pure with radio and AC for $12.7 in 12/08. According to KBB.com, it's worth $11.7k right now, $11.2 on Edmunds, and that's putting my car in as a 2008 because neither sites has a used 2009 option. Not bad at all, imo.

Mine cost 16k even including the delivery charge. It was a passion with every option. I think I made out good in the deal. Mine is now priceless.

Are we talking sticker price or sticker + taxes + interest? My '09 Passion comes to 20k after all that is added in.

I don't think you can reasonably includes tax, title and license fees when calculating depreciation. They vary depending on market and aren't part of the car's material value. I don't think any valuation site accounts for them. It would be like including interest charges (which Edmunds does with their "True Market Value" calculations, which is wrong).
