Ariel or aerial, I don't care. I'm still waiting for an answer to my question.

Ariel is a winged sprite (no, not a bugeye Sprite) in Shakespeare's "The Tempest."

Ok fine, how 'bout this then:

Where did you get the little doohickey that you replaced the factory big doohickey with that helps with the reception of the radio thingy. Some people make life so complicated. ;)

Smartboy, where are you at? I'm still waiting for an answer to my question. People made fun of me but I still would like to know where you got your short ariel or thingy. I also want to see the latest things you have added to your car.

ariel

hey sorry about that ... been moving house ... i bought mine off ebay - lots to choose from - they run about 15.00 ... for some reason I wasn't getting a notification that the post had been answered? ,,, I am about six weeks into the car now - WOW - LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT ... it is SO and I am SO SO SO much better than the last generation ... smart really didt their homework. Gas km is still very good - I have stopped checking to be honest - its just does so well - a tank last me about a week and a half where as my old smart lasted a about five or six days - this tank is bigger but I am sure for a pocket book standpoint it is about the same - this might be a bit better. My diesel was rechipped so it used more then the "slower" smarts - LOL - the new one, I dont see a need to rechip at this point - very fast - and I am quite happy to not have a turbo ... they were a wear and tear item on the previous smart and I had mine replaced at the two year mark - I dont want to go turbo again for that reason ... its been very cold here just outside Toronto and I am pleased to report that this car gets HOT which is fantastic for us CDN folk. I love this thing from the heated seats, lots of blower heat - speed, power steeringm stereo and can't wait to get to use the top - a couple more months I hope! ... as for parts - I have all the brabus spoiler kit and side skirts in the shop being painted, the interior has about everything MB offers ... the 16 and 17 inch wheels and rims are on order for spring arrival and another set of "white" body panels ... I like to have two sets - just like on my last smart ... the white will go on for spring / summer season. I have to say I have not had one single issue with the smart, nothing and not a rattle either ... this car is very well put together and again superior to the OG model in this regard ... if your on the curb about buying one, its time to jump into the fast lane and GET IT ... the former smart had some "issues" and quirks but this new one really truly can compete with anything out there in this elk. I just have to comment about some of the reviews that talk about the transmission ... in auto mode it "thinks" briefly before switching gears bout nothing different that if you were manually clutching and shifting ... compare to the OG model - well - there is NO comparision ... this new tranny is excellent ... the new one also does NOT suffer from issues on the hwy, blowing around and rutts, the old one did, this one does not ... I have to say that the OG model was much better when i increased the tire size to 17 inch rims - this car comes with the wider tires so I think MB learned their lesson ... anyway, just a few thoughts for tonight ... I hope you all get yours soon ... its nice to see this forum and the excitiment that smart has generated in the USA ... everyone keep well

Bump...

Had forgotten this one - post #1 is a great comparison of the previous 450 with the "new" 451 by someone who's owned both.
