For anyone who wants to rig one: Pegasus -Master Battery Cutoff Switch with Alternator Protection (It should have alternator protection)
I had a cutoff switch years ago - without the key...it was a nightmare everytime anyone needed to work on it. I like this alot. Where might the key be installed in a smartie?

Glove box; one or the storage pockets either side of the steering wheel; near the 12VDC socket??? Somewhere that the switch won't be accidentally thrown - if so it's an immediate showstopper and computer re-boot.

I agree, If were YOUR part then sell it, but if a mechanic accidentally left his tool in your car you would be wrong to sell it! It would still be considered theft and the selling of stolen property sine you know it did not belong to you and you knew who the true owner was and you deprived them of their property.

Actually I think that is a "gray" area. Personally I would give it back to the dealership (after askin here what it is ) and it was found out that they left it in by accident but I live 1.5 hours from my dealership so they would have to have me ship it or make it worth my while!

Obviously Silver Pellet will do what he thinks is best. Let's not forget that lots of non-registered members are viewing this site, including several smart Centers employees...

Didn't mean to stir up a moral issue here. As I said in the original post, I'm going to take it by the dealer and see if they want it back. It's the right thing to do. Heck, I probably won't even charge the usual labor rate for having to remove the thing.

Apparently I am odd.

I am intrigued by the fact that the part number is actually for a 450.
