Need rear hatch window frame with both extension tubes & brackets for 2008 - Smart Car of America Forums : Smart Car Forum

Both struts that hold up the rear hatch door window when opened broke off from the window side mountings. The mounts are cracked beyond repair so a new panel is required to mount new struts in place. Does the plastic frame thats inside the rear window come off or is that a total replacement ? Any clue as to where I can get a parts list? I would need new struts and something to mount them to.

If it is an 08 then it's not a 450; moved to the 451 section.

Ok, we need details~How did you break it~How many miles on the car, so we get an idea when ours is going to break...??? Post a Pic too please...

Its an 08, 26K on odo. It was broken by the previous owner. I will post pics. I believe it was pushed up beyond it limits for what reason I havn't a clue. I do my own repairs so I need some info to make the repair myself. It looks like a simple replacement but I don't have any reference manuals to work with.

I have the strut rods, just need the part that goes on the glass (see pic)

Wow! The previous owner did a number on the hatch; something tells me you'll need the whole hatch to make it work.

Yes I believe so. Its real hard to locate this part. I guess I will have to go to the dealer & see what they have to offer.
