My guess is weight as to why it doesn't open is probably due to weight or safety issues. Beleive it or not, cars with sunroofs that open have quite a bit more curb weight than those that don't. My guess is chassis differences, but I am not a mechanic.
I think the lack of a true SF is weight, design and space. The rook would have to move backwards, either on TOP of the car, in the roof or IN the car. None of these are optimal, and add weight and space.
after driving the cabrio (noisy), i'm back to the passion vs. the pure. i also like a working sunroof over a tinted roof....so i'm thinking about a pure + after market sliding ragtop sunroof...has any one done this or have thoughts?

if you say the cabrio is noisy, having a pure with a ragtop will be the exact same thing.
good point Smart09. I wonder if there's a good sunroof option that wouldn't be as noisy as a ragtop...
you know what i was thinking. there are some companys that do custom work on sunroofs and things like that. i was thinking when i get my smart i will take it in and tell them to make the panorama roof removable so i can take it out or leave it on as i please. you have a sunroof and a quiet car
My pano roof material is beginning to 'craze', tiny cracks that are only visible when light hits it a certain way. Its a 2 1/2 year old 2008 with 35,000 miles. Anyone else seeing this?
