Now I will have to do this ALL OVER again with the people who buy Honda Fit's and see what the out the door price is on those cars.
The base version of the Honda Fit that gets 31 MPG is $15,004 for the dealer
INVOICE cost.
I don't see any options about adding A/C or anything. MSRP is $15,550. So I wonder what the out the door cost on this car would be vs. a smart fortwo.
I know when I went to the local Honda dealer here, they have the MSRP sticker, then they have the addendum with $300 for the paint sealant, $300 for the fabric treatment and other BS charges that cost them $10-20 bucks (their cost) to add to the vehicle. Total scam. I'm not paying that.
One of my previous new cars that I bought was from an auto broker and I bought the car at dealer invoice. So the dealer only makes the holdback. In Honda's case, they should be getting a holdback check of about $465 and any other incentives if I were to buy at dealer invoice.
The smart dealers could be getting similar... either 2 or 3% of the MSRP as a holdback check... plus all the profit they make selling the car at MSRP... then they sell you the extended warranty and they make 50% profit on those.
