How do I pay $14,900 for it instead like rfernatt did? That's what I want to do. What's the advantage of driving to West Virginia?

Hey NCC - my neighbor who doesn't visit SCOA for lack of internet has a BARE BONES Pure. No A/C and it came with no radio until I added a Radio 9 in it for them.

homeslice - one was $16,500 and the other was $16,200 out the door. The thing that jacked the price up was the silver tridion and metallic paint on a barebones Passion. I also had a yellow with black tridion with pods, alarm, radio 10 & fogs that came out for LESS.

BTW - our local Craigslist has a cabrio for $14k....it's in Florida.

If my doc fees are like the above for $45 and they don't charge me some ridiculous $400+ dealer fee, then I will buy locally when the time comes.

I have $3500 saved so far. I'm almost 25% there <gulp!>

And hopefully in the next few months, the savings will start to increase.

I actually got stuck with $200 doc fees for the Yaris I just got for my daughter. Seems like every brand will stick it to you, some you can combat easier than others. (BTW - I offered up a Smart but she refused)

Remember to keep that money acquiring legal. Except for the stuff you sell and don't report to your Uncle Sam .

100% of the money is reported to Uncle Sam without my control. I am paying way too much taxes.

I just have the feeling I am going to be stuck buying a used smart. Then anytime I go back the smart dealers for anything, those sales dudes that I spoke with are going to be PO'd that I didn't buy the car at their dealership.

I will give them the first crack at buying the car. First I will go to the used one, get all of the out-the-door pricing with all taxes, fees, etc... and then I'll give the smart dealer the best shot I can try at getting one brand spanking new.

Blue / black Passion. With comfort package and pods. With LA taxas 18,038.00 out the door. I did how ever get a check back from Smart for my license. I ordered vanity plates prior to getting the car but still had to fricking pay the licensing until the DMV gets the VIN. Don't even get me started with trying to get into the DMV to swap out the plates.

I want to get a vanity plate as well if it's not taken by the time I get the car.

In California you can go online and order your plate. Took about 4 months before they send the notice of it complete. But then I waited another 4 months before car. I ended up making it to the DMV and they told me they had to have the VIN in the system. So again I had to wait. Well its been 2 months now and I finaly got the numbered plates from the DMV in the mail. So now I have to get back into DMV and exchange them. They told me they are still there and are holding them. My luck with this they won't be. But who knows.
