Is there a "locking" & "unlocking" chirp available?

Just wondering, I did not get the factory alarm installed. Is there a way to have the horn chirp when you press the lock button on the key?

You can have mine (the 'chirp' that is)! I hate the chirp.

I'm guessing that the only way to have a chirp is to have the alarm. We have 2 '06 Minis. The one with the alarm chirps, the one without does not. Just a guess, but usually cars originating in Germany (smart=MBZ, Mini=BMW) share most basic engineering features.

Usually my 450 clicks its locks and flashes its lights at me when I lock or unlock it. Very quiet and polite for the neighbors.

All of my other cars with factory alarms had a procedure in the owners manual for silencing the audible acknowledgements. I can't believe this product does not have the same ability. We need a smart tech who knows the alarm programming: Help!

If someone can tell me where the "chirp" is coming from (it's not the horn), I'll tear the thing out!

I'll grant that the chirp is loud, but at least it is better then cars that use the horn - I detest that. Our other car makes no sound and just flashes lights, we don't like that either - often have to double check if its locked or unlocked, annoying. For me the best is having a little chirp, not as loud as the Smart but I guess I'll take what I can get.

my car doesnt chirp at all..just flashing the lights..and i have the same prob making sure its locked or unlocked...how do you activate the chirp? at times it can be annoying, but its a reassurance for me when i can hear it chrip to alert me that its locked. so i dont have to look back on my way away from the car.
