Because of its uber fuel efficiency, the non-hybrid Smart will most likely be eligible for a further $2,000 rebate from the federal government as part of the ecoAUTO program to encourage the purchase of very fuel-efficient vehicles.[
Unfortunately for those in the USA, that's for those who pay taxes in Canada. Oh, well.
Why would our (USA) government want to encourage the purchase of fuel efficient cars? Oh, I remember, we're "addicted to oil." Maybe one of these days we'll have a real energy policy.
