'if' i wanted a performance car, i'd get something else, NOT a smart.
I'm with you on this. I'm buying the SMART for it's novelty and how it looks. Turbo engine or not, the SMART is not a fast car. There isn't much you can do to a SMART engine to make it fast. One can make it faster, but it will never be fast. My other car will take care of my speed needs.

I think the Brabus package is a great deal. They are giving a lot of cosmetic mods at a great price.

I would like to see how many of these cars are orphaned at the dealership. I put in my reservation on saturday, 1 Nov, and called 2 Nov to change my passion reservation to a Barabus, still no word back from SUSA on that.... just more hurry up an wait.

I don't know if anyone see this. Right after i changed my reservation to Brabus (on Oct24?). My DDE show up Aug2010-Oct2010. I think it is telling me something. I never see my DDE before I upgraded my reservation to Brabus. Does that mean they accepted me and just put a place holder DDE. I don't expect to wait 2 years for a regular smart. Anyone notice that??
I know that they said after Nov2 to find out.

Very interesting indeed. For the days after I changed my reservation to Brabus, the ETA showed that an estimation could not be deteremined. Today, the DDE is back and the window moved by 2 months (from June - Aug 2009 to Apr - June 2009). I am more inclined to believe that my switch got accepted.

It's funny you guys mention that. I reserved my smart sometime in Aug. (2nd week I believe) and the first day we could change the reservation of the smart to a Brabus I did. My EDD which had not shown up before finally came up on smartusa.com after I had put in my Brabus change. I states Nov'09 - January'10. I hope I make the cut. Only 1,500 Brabus smarts...idk. :{

I hope you get one! Like you, my DDE disappeared after configuring the SMART. It still is not back, though, which means I may not get one. I called SMART USA to see what the criteria for selecting future Brabus owners. It's based on initial reservation date. Seeing how I reserved in September, my chances look slim.

So this means that a walk up customer today has no possibility of picking one of these up? Will this be the same story when introduce the fortwo EV?

Based on what the CS rep told me, my guess is no possibility of picking one up. Not sure if this will be the same for the EV.

It will be quite interesting to see what the initial reservation dates are for the people who end up with a Brabus Smart and if this is consistent with what I was told.
