2010 model specs

Has anyone located any 2010 model information yet (...presuming the model-year change will still occur this October 01--just 3 months away)?

I'm considering selling my '08
(--ordered online in May 2007, by the way, plunking down 99.00 and patiently waiting my turn)
to buy a '10 model. However, if Smart's '10 production is clone to the '08/'09 models, I might hold onto the '08 another year to see what Toyota or VW offers in 2011. Comments?

Three months away may not be long enough to put you into an 2010 model.

Why not just wait the couple of months and then go down to your dealer and see if the 2010's are any different. No need for the $99

Kind of hope they do not change much as each additional year that is added the parts will get cheaper and I plan on keeping mine.

I think there could be some differences in the 2010 model say in some new colors and additional options, but really why not ask the dealership they might be able to share some stuff with you.

Actually, I submitted a second 99.00 deposit months ago. I've avoided configuring because I don't want a late-year-manufactured 2009 model--and I'm not scavenging for a leftover (I already own a Smart that I ordered).

Dealers that I've checked with don't have (...or aren't releasing) any info about 2010 model specs. I'm thinking that if the 2010 is essentially identical to the '08/'09 releases (...plus or minus a color-change or minimal doo-dad), I'll likely cancel my 2010 reservation. I'm guessing that Smart will have to come up with some significant offerings in the 2010 model year-- and beyond, or face significant competition from from Toyota, VW, and the like.

The more you change a car the more expensive it is. This is a niche car and does what it is supposed to very well. Look how long the Beetle or checker remained the same with very little changes. I think many model changes kind of dragged down the big 3. Every change is different parts that only fit a few model years. gets very expensive to make and stock all of those different parts.

I have heard that a green panel set will be introduced. I am not sure which one it will replace.

"Insider" knowledge, huh? I hope so....THAT would be cool!

I plan on keeping my '09 for some time, but I would consider trading 'if' and 'when' the ED comes to the U.S. It would be way cool for us to have TWO smarts in the garage. Not very practical, but COOL!
