I stopped in at Smart Center of Latham (Albany, NY) tonite on my way home from work and met some of the people involved with bootstrapping the center to liveliness in the next few weeks. They were most interesting to talk with and await Penske's Certification tomorrow where 2 people will come from Smart Hdqtrs in Michigan to perform the rite of ceremony. The dealership looks great but will look even greater once they have cars in the showroom. The manager verified that the list of reservists will be received tomorrow for this area and once the cars arrive (due to be shipped out to all dealerships ENMASSE 1/14/-1/15) so the blitz begins all over the country all at the same time for the certified dealers. They said their should be national coverage of the event but were not sure of that. They still were not sure just how many cars they will get next week. If they did know they weren't saying. The destination fee may be a shocker to some at nearly $800 but
that can't be cast in stone until we actually see what they charge in the paper work that we sign when that time comes.
(so don't panic....
So things will begin to unfold here rather quickly in the next week. I am soooooo curious to see where I sit on the local dealership reservation list.....soon I will know.
So keep your eyes open on the highways next week...you may see them heading for the dealerships. The manager did mention that cars being shipped in the Northern states, where road conditions due to weather may not be so clean due to sand and salt deposits on the roads, would be shipped in closed trailer trucks.
So we won't be able to see them in transport really.
