Last year, Mercersburg Academy purchased a Smart car to use as a security vehicle. Spokesperson Lindsay Tanton said the car replaced a less efficient Chevrolet Trailblazer. "They were running all day long, so it made a lot of sense," she said. The car was a big hit with students. "When it first arrived on campus, it was a mini-celebrity. Everybody wanted their picture with it," Tanton said. "It's been very popular."
