That was my point. The smart was not "designed" for the city only. It was inexplicably "labeled" as such by the media.

Seriously-- my smart is not a toy, it's a commuter workhorse. And CC will make that commute better.
Benz, shmenz, how quaint is that?? Ah, you poor peasants, stuck with only one car! When I want to get to the store quickly, I just hop into one of my Bugatti Veyrons (maybe the burgundy one), and before you can reach 90 mph I've covered the 2 miles in 36 seconds. And when I want to go offroad, I take my Bradley M3A3 Fighting Vehicle or even my Abrams A-1A (up-armored, of course).

Of course when I finally do wake up, I take my shower, eat cereal for breakfast, leave my suburban home and hop into my smart, wishing all the while that I had cruise control for the long commute...

It was inexplicably marketed that way by smart USA and the media just picked up on that.

It was a real mistake and they will need to reposition the car to maximize sales (once the order backlog is filled). Many smart fortwo buyers, including me, bought it for long, primarily highway, commutes. We're the ones racking up the miles who can really benefit from the fuel savings.

Had gas been $3.50+ per gallon when the brochures were being designed, the car would have probably been marketed to long-distance suburban commuters rather than to trendy city dwellers.

Made my order today. Got the e-mail saying my CC was ready. Wish I would of had it before I went up to Reno and back.
