Perhaps they dropped it because "some Smart Roadsters leaked and production ceased due to the warranty work and other costs reaching an average of €3000 per vehicle."

But is it a roadster or a targa top station wagon?

Which many of Americans can't drive anyway. Smart gives a little bit of both, but people really need to stop focusing on the AUTOmated part. No the smart is not offered with a manual, its offered with both in one nice package. I bet 99% of iQ's sold will have the CVT. And I would not consider these to be in the same class.

That sentence, quoted from the article referenced by the OP, is obviously in error. Of course the smart has a manual transmission; what it doesn't have is a clutch pedal for the driver.
