There's actually a shop that converts old Harley frames to electric bikes in Ithaca that does something like this. Along with the bike you get a cheep MP3 player that has several tracks of the original engine sound from the bike so you can play it back through the bike while riding. They had tracks for idling, light driving, speeding, and a stalling noise.
