what a pathetic noise generator... Why on earth would you buy an electric car and then have it make GAS noises! let the generation of quiet cars roll in with its better attributes as to less noise pollution as well. as far as making noise for pedestrians sake, I really am of the philosophy that the pedestrian should use all his senses to cross a street and not the other way around.
as far as the ED logo.. please change it to Edrive. ED in the current times we live in is more akin to Viagra and limp jokes.

Noise Generators are not only for blind pedestrians, but also for Bicyclists. Nothing worse than riding along on a bike only to get the -i-- scared out of you because a silent car came up behind you.

And the noises don't have to be gas noises. It should come with a choice of sound effects that mimic the gas peddle

Oh, and not all pedestrians are road crossers. IN most of the country the pedestrians are using the roadways where sidewalks do not exist. Unless you want to limit exercise to treadmills you need to share the roadway with folks without cars.

Just put a couple of speakers outside hooked to the sound system and be done with it

Remember, it does make UFO sounds too!

That'll scare the c*** out of pedestrians and unsuspecting cyclists.

OOOH, and go out to New Mexico at midnight with only the DRLs on and UFO sounds on!

In my view, the sound is not only awful sounding, but unnecessary and gimmicky. You don't hear a cars engine until it has passed you with the exception of true ED (erectile disfunction) cars. What you hear are the tires. Maybe if you're driving very very slow would you hear an engine before tire noise.

I read the car does 0-62 in 3.7 seconds, but I can't get past how horrible the colors are that Smart picks. The person that is in charge of colors needs to be fired. I mean come on, this is France, home of fashion. Lima bean green is not a good car color unless maybe for Shrek.

I like the light colored softtop, though I bet that's hard to keep clean. And the wannabe Audi foglights I suppose are okay, though I kinda like the $650 Brabus quad fog/driving lights better though I'd never pay those prices to get the set.

Maybe a Jetson sound would be nice. For bicyclist I I prefer the ship/train horn. Just kidding. :P

There's a shop in Ithaca that converts old Harley frames into ED bikes. It doubles their weight, but has some awesome stats. (The 0-60 is crazy, top speed over 120mph, and range is over 150 miles.) They also sell a set of MP3 files to play over the built in audio system so you sound like a gas bike. They say it's a huge safety factor while driving on multi-lane highways, which I have to agree with. Often on highways I'll hear a bike well before I see it.

Maybe we need some speakers in the front to blast out our old 1L engine noises?
