although - the gas cost assumptions are a bit dated.

Quote:
The list was compiled by combining the car's base sticker price (as of 5/9/08) with a fuel cost estimate based on its EPA-estimated gas mileage. Fuel costs assume that the car is driven 15,000 miles per year, 55 percent in the city and 45 percent on the highway; that the cost of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.40 a gallon and the cost of premium unleaded gasoline is $3.70 a gallon; and that the car is owned for eight years.

how did the Chevy Aveo go from being an $8,000 car a year ago to a $12,000 car?

BTW just to be fair most of the other car's base price does not include an automatic transmission so add $650-$1000 and subtract 3-5mpg for an automatic too....

Honda Civic mpg must be for the hybrid; the gas version doesn't get 40/45.

A year ago they had to discount them heavily to get rid of them.
