I know in my heavy sand it bogs, feels like it will stall in first and the pedal is to the floor.

On another note, while turning into my dirt road driveway the other day I rounded the corner quickly and the car automatically applied the brakes to the left front wheel. Was this just my imagination? It did the ABS "clunk" noise. My ESC light has come on a bit too lately as they have decided to begin logging on a large scale on my road and the tracks are shredding the road up causing the packed clay to become sandy.

That was the same conclusion my husband and I came to, but we'd take a chance of hitting my husband's car which is in the driveway. Once he get's his smart, the parking situation will be eliminated because we'll be parking tandem in the garage and will have a clear driveway.
