[QUOTE=SuperGeek; I do believe there will be a shake-up with car sizes even with gas prices dropping[/QUOTE]

IMHO Gas prices are here to stay and will get higher with time. Gas prices are like the current stock market in reverse. They will stabilize in time but not go down below $3.00 a gallon.

Regular gas in our area just went to $2.99/gallon today. Never thought I'd see a "2" as the first number again!

Enjoy it while it lasts. Like someone quoted above, it will go back up. Just when the economy finally starts coming back up it will come up too.

We're still $3.25 for regular.

In NW Indiana it hit $2.99 the other day, all it will take is a hint of a problem somewhere to make it bounce back up, the manipulators won't be content to stay down for long. In order to keep it down we have to have less demand and it doesn't appear many car manufacturers are willing to build and supply really
efficient cars for the US and Canada very quickly. Ford could sell a 60mpg diesel Fiesta but wants us to be content with the gas version because it "cost's too much" to do the diesel for the US. GM has car diesels in the EU but no plans for the US. Do they really understand what we want in north America?

The LA Auto Show should prove to be interesting. It's about 5 weeks away, so by then gas prices should be going up again. My guess is that there will be less of a push on big size (and power) and more of a push on MPG.

I understand that the Toyota iQ (Scion) will be shown. It should be interesting to hear what others are saying at the Scion Booth. Last year, even away from the Smart Car Booth, I overheard several people compare the Yaris, the Mini, and other cars to the Smart Car.

Well, Bob, that is just silly. How could anyone possibly compare those pieces of cookie cutter junk to our beloved smart? Oh, did I type that out loud?

Ah the joys of California. The cheapest gas in my town is $3.33 regular and $3.57 for premium. I don't even live where the prices are high closer to SF. Maybe it has something to do with that ultra long haul from the refinery. It's got to be at least 30 miles.

In South Chicago regular is still around $3.70 a gallon, thirty miles away in Indiana it's $2.99. BTW, both states have the same gas tax.
