As Ive mentioned in another thread, the very people who smart should be pleasing...reservation holders, smart is just clueless about. To come out with this worthless estimator, I feel is a slap in the face to reservation holders. If anything it further creates "bad will" with their customer base. They need to ramp up production quickly otherwise, I bet the orphan rate will be more like 50% as more and more folks decide to purchase other vehicles. Up to this point some of us waited 12 months for our cars, that was fine, but at this point its unacceptable.
I was also disapointed in the limited "output" of this estimator - I was hoping for more details!
But two things are apparent now- first and foremost - it just goes to show that the recent spurt and jump of configurations was an apparition: just because you got to configure earlier then someone else, doesn't mean you'll get your car any faster.
Of course to truely say this, one must look at all of the reservation data:
rezo #, configuration date, and now delivery estimate. It will be curious to see how many of those who got to configure "early" (in terms of rezo #) will actually get their car early.
Secondly, am I correct to understand that in some cases the statement "Your vehicle is currently planned for production or is produced and in transit. Please contact your local dealer for a more accurate delivery estimate." is also included with the 3 month delivery estimate?
third thing- just goes to show that production is not going to beyond the revised 20 - 25K estimate, and that manyof us will not get 2008 models
almost forgot: reserved 7/07 (#1286), configured 1/27/08, ETA: may 08 - July 08

Reason: for got to add own estimate info!
As I posted elsewhere, my 1391 reservation, made 10/23/07, gives me a DD of MAY 2009 - JULY 2009 meaning a wait of 19 - 21 MONTHS from reservation.
$99 invested properly could do a lot more for me than sit on PAG's books for 20 months.
I have an orphan, so I need to get on the stick and write in to cancel. BTW, how come you can reserve online, but you have to SNAIL MAIL in a cancellation? that's nuts too.
I am really annoyed by all this. I hope this bites them in the A$$...

I reserved on March 30 2007, configured on October 26, 2007 (smart has a different date, they say that is because they date the configuration as the last day one had to respond). Here is the response to my input to the estimator: Estimated ETA Date:
3/5/2008 to 6/3/2008. Your vehicle is currently planned for production or is produced and in transit. Please contact your local dealer for a more accurate delivery estimate.
FWIW, my car landed in Baltimore on March 27th 2008 so I suppose I will have it by the 15th of April. Or, about half way through the window
FWIW 2 The estimator is not a joke. They are telling you exactly what they said they would. Whether or not we like the answer is a different question, imho.
I'm still in shock from my September 2010 date... 2010?? This site should start a "Smart For Sale" section because by the time that date comes around I'm sure people will be ready to sell or buy a new model. Wow. This is a major bummer.
I'm an optimist....so, maybe they put the 90 day window, but are hoping to deliver in the beginning of the 90 days. That's still too long (over a year wait!), but we can be hopeful. I can definitely see the Smart's enthusiasm waning......

I see that in all of the instances where that extra statement is included, that also a day of the month is given; in all other cases just the month and the year is supplied.
In this respect, at least the estimator has some value- right now it plainly states may 2008 - July 2008 for me, however as I keep checking back with it, when it gives me the additional detail, then I'll know there's progress and its getting closer!
