I reserved a second smart fortwo hoping for a 2009 model year version... I expected about a year (actually 8 to 10 months) for the delivery..... the estimator is telling me a Jan 08 reservation will not be delivered until LATE 2009 some 18~20 months from now..... Yep! they must be on crack

I figured one link was enough. If they even care, they will then explore the other threads and learn more from our site and members. I am just disappointed that what I was told by the dealer is off by several motnhs.

Looks like they are actually planning for a slow down or something. I hope it's nothing really serious. I'd hate to see micro-cars in general get a black eye over this nonsense.

They are giving themselves too big of a window in my opinion. As per my dealer 9 days ago my car is in route and the ship's ETA in Jacksonville is 4/8/08. You would think smartusa would know it has been produced and on it's way. It's not going to take 2 months from April 8th to get from the Jax port to the Jax dealer.

My friend reserved 22 days after me (#1218) and confimed sometime early December. Her DDE is June 2008 to August 2008.
