Makes absolutely no economic sense. That's about $28,000 more than our smartie is going to cost......which is approximately 7000 gal. of gasoline. Assuming we use 7 gal./week (280 mi or so), thats 1000 weeks (19.2 yrs) of gas to pay the premium of electric. And thats not even considering the cost of electricity to recharge the e-smart and battery life, etc. I would love to see automobiles go 100% electric...but at current battery prices, all-electric (tesla??$109k!) or even electric priority gas elec hybrids (chevy volt, $40k!!) are going to remain the playthings of rich enviromentalists. Of course, if gas goes to $15/gal, we all may be singing a different tune, or walking, or converting our cars to cold fusion!
