Well considering that most people drive less than 30 miles per day, so that's not even an issue. If Smart offered an electric version, I'd much prefer it than gas any day of the week

@ $43k for an electric smart, you have to drive a lot of miles and pay a lot more for gasoline to break even.

Maybe most people where you live drive such short distances, but things are different out here. On Sunday my wife and I went accross Tucson to the fairgrounds for a Home and Garden show: 105 mile roundtrip. This was from the northside of town to the edge of the southside. Just running errands around town is a 50 mile day......

I started this thread on 5/12 after having waited approximately 1 month for my EV Smart car and putting down my $99 deposit - today is 7/2 and there is no EV Smart car in my garage! Still waiting . . .

It is now 11/03/2008 and still no EV Smart Car out of or from Arizona BUT the good news is that my gas model 2009 Smart should be here before March of 2009!
