After reading the comments, I have come the concluion that If I hear another whiner saying that its a toy, gets horrible milage, is overpriced and we all should purchase used Civic and Corollas, im going to puke. From what I have seen both of those cars are extrmelly overpriced used because all of America thinks they are the only game in town regarding econoboxes. They also have to be the most soul-less things on 4 wheels, after driving a Civic for the day, I thought it was akin to driving my Maytag washer down the road. An appliance car it certainly was.
I dont get how that one guy thinks Toyota quality is better then the smarts, their rating have suffered alot recently due to their incessant cost cutting in becoming GM Japan.

After a few days on old US60 in WV I do not agree 100% that the car does not handle well....I feel just the opposite...I felt it did very well...and fun too! Overall a honest review.

While it's nice to see good reviews, I could care less what other people think**they're not the ones who have to fill up my tank with gas getting more and more expensive every day. The smart gets me more than twice (about 2.5x, actually) as far as the other four-wheeled choices in my garage. The fact that it does so and I still like driving it makes it a winner in our family.

A telling point: our oldest daughter practically demanded we didn't buy it**she hated it. Now she's telling people how it will be her car in a year!
