(H.R.2694. Title: “To protect the rights of consumers to diagnose, service, maintain, and repair their motor vehicles, and for other purposes.” Status: 13 JUN 07 Referred to the Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection.)
Still no action in the Committee in this the 110th Congress nor in the 109th. The only pending legislative hearings there this year have been concerning telemarketers, consumer product safety for children, and combating spyware. Nothing close to anything that will give us the right to a maintenance and repair manual.
The only bright spot is that Rep. Charles Rangel (NY) has signed-on this month as the 46th co-sponsor of the bill. Maybe he draws enough water to get it on the schedule.
