I wonder if those people driving the Smarts on the Road Show were asked the same question much. It's a new enough car that a few people think it's some sort of prototype and you're a company rep.
Of course you could of replied, "Nope, it's my bank's until I finish paying it off."
I get asked if it's electric at least twice a day as a minimum.
Yes... I had a good laugh one day while pumping gas into my SMART at a BP station. Standing there, fueling up with nozzle in hand a gentleman walks up asking.... Is that one of those electric cars? I guess I should have answered, YES... this is my portable fuel tank for my wife's car!
i got the exact same thing a couple weeks ago, right down to being at a BP. some people just don't have a clue.
I got the 'Is it electric?' question while at a BP gas station with the Prem gas nozzle in the car. I wanted to reply...'yes...it's electric but I can't kick that gasoline habit!'.....

Had an older (at least than me) gentlemen in a Chevy Malibu shout out, "What do you use to fill that thing up, an eyedropper?" without missing a beat I shouted back " . . . pretty much as its gets 48 mpg"
