How many smarts on the 1st boat

I contacted PAG today to see if I could get any additional info from them but little was offerred. They will not say how mant smarts are on the 1st boat coming. Also tried to conform the cost of warrenty extensions but again they are leaving that in the hands of the dealers to share.

It sounds like the flat tire kit is limited to a can of fix-a-flat only.

Dealer accessories also will be very limited initially.

Text of the questions and their replies:

Can you provide any info as to the number of cars being shipped on the first ship load?
I cannot share this information.

We understand that the standard warranty is 2 years-24000 miles. Can you provide any information of the cost of extending this by 1 or 2 years?

The dealers will review this information with the customer. There will be a variety of extension plans based on consumer preference.

Can you confirm if the car comes with a standard flat tire kit and what that kit includes?

The car comes with a fix a flat. Also note – we have free 24/7 roadside assistance for two years as well to assist with tire repair.

Do you know if dealers will be offering any optional accessories right from the start such as upgraded or custom wheels, chrome trim rings, bicycle racks, floor mats etc?

Some. Floor mats, racks yes. Custom wheels no.

Perhaps you can ask at clubsmart.ca, there is a guy there counting cars as they come off at Halifax. Not sure if the same load gets to Maryland or not.

Are those being delivered there supposed to go to ALL of North America?
I suppose I just assumed that the US would have it's own port...

Clarify?

Fingers crossed the cargo ship doesn't sink (like that incident a few years ago when some 2500 BMWs, Saabs, and Volvos were lost).

Smarts have Landed?

The first shipments of U.S Smart fortwo's appear to have arrived at Port of Baltimore on the 2nd of November abord the Wallenius Wilhemsen vessel Otello. Most likely a handful only, and no deliveries before January. Don't ask me how I know, I have been unable to confirm.

The majority of early shipments will be for dealer demos.

First shipment of US spec smarts arrived October 9, 2007. I sat in the car at the LA Auto Show last month. I also tried the tracking using US spec VINs from the smart House demo cars I drove, but got no results.

If the early Canadian shipments are any indication, seems like they ship only a couple hundred at a time. (I know what you're saying....."why, they're so small - can't they fit more?")
