ORLANDO SMART CENTER ROCKS !!!!!!!!!

A big thank you to everyone involved in this amazing get together. It was like one big happy family (Oh wait happy and family don't normally go together LOL) It's so cool how a little car can bring so many different people together. This was truly an event that will never be forgotten. I can't wait to see everyone's pictures and to get my photo of all the cars together. Once again thank you for all your hard work.

There were 207 total smart cars attending the Meeting at the dealership. About 20 or so customized, tricked out, painted, totally cool and OMG smarts parked in front of the building for voting of favorites. Several dealers of products and everybody and their brother that I've ever met before at a smart meet. Dave Schembri gave a great talk about the advances made and things being worked on. One thing I was excited about is the 2008 smarts will get the computer software updates that the 2009 smarts have which will correct a few hiccups we '08ers have experienced. Best part is it's FREE! Installed with the next servicing.

You cannot possibly imagine the mayhem of arranging 207 smart cars in the exact pattern required to take the panorama photo. Waaayyy too much fun watching, amazingly quick to photograph.

After the photo 32 smarts went on a convoy trip through the back roads of Windemere and Disney and ended up at Westside Disney to schmooze over dinner. People all along the way were just amazed watching all the smarts zipping by.

I had so much fun today! I'm sure there's another thread somewhere with a bunch more posts all about it. My favorite part? Watching all the smart cars turning corners ahead of me on our convoy, then the scramble across the giant parking lot when the last bunch found the first bunch. Reminded me of ants! Hilarious!!

The official count at the dealership was 207 CARS!!!!

I have started another post about the event and we will start posting pictures tomorrow of the event. It is 10:00Pm and the end of a 16 hour day for me and I'm toast but a huge thank you to all that attended and participated and volunteered for this great event. At 1:30 PM we had 207 smarts on the property. 135 of those stayed for the exciting panoramic photo which we won't have back from the photographer for two to three weeks but we will post when we recieve.

What an Event: 207 smart Cars at 1 time in 1 place!!!!! We did it!!
On Sunday Feb 8th the Orlando smart center in conjunction with the Central Florida Smart Car Club held a 1st Anniversary Customer Appreciation Party at the smart center in Orlando, FL. A total of 207 smart cars and 400 people turned out for a 4 hour celebration of these wonderful cars and our Dealership.
We believe this is the largest smart car gathering to have taken place in the USA since the introduction of the cars early last year.
The event included: A Custom smart car show with over 20 modified smart cars; a catered casual lunch; an extended visit by Dave Schembri, President of smart USA; a couple dozen door prizes including billet parts, custom embroidered items, a smart armrest and a smart car chrome package; technical information; aftermarket vendors; a DJ & Music and hundreds of smart cars and satisfied owners. We received press coverage from Smartimes Magazine who will be publishing an article on the event and we made the local news on News Channel 13 TV. We also took a wonderful professional, limited edition, panoramic photo of 135 cars and their owners at the end of the event.
Our thanks go out to Julie Morelli, Judson Barteaux, Kevin Bowlan, and Garrett Heady of smart center Orlando for their sponsorship and hospitality. A very special thanks to Dave Schembri for coming out and spending time with the smart owners. Special thanks to Ken Wagar for his sponsorship, coordination and hard work to make this event a success. Thanks also to our supplier/partners including European Toys, Ultimate Audio, Breathless Performance Products, Kidd’s Kustom Smarts, Ultra luster and George Pearl Photography for their support and involvement.
We were also blessed with many wonderful volunteers that assisted us with Registration, Parking and the Photo shoot. This event could not have been a success without the involvement and participation of the Central Florida Smart Car Club, Suncoast Smarts, the Daytona Smart Group and the Villages Smart Car Owners and their members. Finally we thank all 400 of those that came out with their smart cars and enjoyed the day with us.
We now challenge the smart car communities around the US as well as all of the dealers to meet and/or exceed our event! It can be done and events of this type set the stage for larger regional or national events so get to work and see what you can do.
