I just got off the phone with the local Benz dealer here in Sin City. They informed my that they are not and will not be an authorized dealer for the Smart line.

The Smart dealer nearest me is either Riverside, CA or some place in AZ. Either way 4 to 5 hours drive.

I really want one, but I need to sit in it first. I am 6'6" and over 250lbs. I do not want to drive my gass guzzler 4 to 5 hours just to find out that I can't buy it because it doesn't have enough room for me to sit.

I know noeone can help. I just needed to vent.

There's a vegas smart owner here on the boards, maybe he can help you will all related questions.

find someone who owns one, I have had lots of strangers ask if they can sit inside my car, I usually let them unless they are dirty or just unsavory! I think alot of Smart owners would do the same.

I thought about that, but I do not want to impose on anyone. O have them feel obligated to let me sit in there car. I had a Delorean for a few years and people would come upto me all the time, at first it was kinda cool, but then it became a pain in the ars.

If you guys think it would be OK then next time I will. I see a few here in Vegas.

openendstraight, I would contact them first through this forum. This way they are warned and don't think you are just another looky loo. I know I would be more inclined to allow you to check out my smart if I knew you were one of the forum members. You have clout as a member.;)

Towbin is listed as the dealer on this website. It also shows their address and will be open the 3rd quarter of this year. Check the dealer map and directory on this site. My reservation request is scheduled on the DDE as from 7-26-08 to 10-24-08. The reservation was made in August 07 and config was February 08. We live in North Las Vegas. Good luck!

It is quite surprising that a market as big as Las Vegas has no dealership.

There were at least a couple places on the Strip that rented Smart-Cars as "specialty" cars... just like some people rent Ferraris, Hummers, Vettes, etc.

I suggest finding one of these, and renting a Smart for a couple hours or a day. That should be plenty of time for a test-drive.

Towbin Hummer will be the dealer by the time you would get delivery. But I would still get the car from Riverside.

Thanks Sean! I replied to openendstraight on his other similar post, hoping you would see his dilemma. Glad that worked out.

Do you think we have enough folks that we should ask for our own sub-forum? Two of us orange ones in the south end of the valley and I've seen the lime green at least once.

Maybe I'll talk to a "moderator" about that.
