It looks like the dealer for Charlotte, North Carolina will be Mercedes-Benz of South Charlotte. Construction has already begun on a 2 story, all glass showroom and it looks like it will be ready by Jan 1st or so.
Anyone know of any central california dealers coming. I called Fresno Mercedes and they said that its up to Penske and that they dont know yet.
It's gonna suck if I have to drive 2.5-3 hours to nearest confirmed dealer which is in San Jose.
Do you know of a confirmed dealer in San Jose? I haven't heard of one yet. I just saw a sign where I think there's going to be one, but I went there last Sunday, and still no sign of any construction there.
If anyone is curious, I just went by the MB of San Diego lot ... they have the new Smart showroom nearly completed ... the wrap is off the building but there's no Smart logo outside it yet. Not terribly large, but then again, the Fortwo certainly isn't the size of an S-600 either.
No cars inside that I could see ... but I'm getting excited! Should be really soon.

I drove by in my Expedition and saw that the Smart Center of Bedford (Ohio) is nearly complete. The guy working on it said it opens 1 Jan. Wind chill made the temp. 26, the snow was coming down, but I took pictures anyway. It just didn't feel cold.
It will be interesting to see which dealers are announced for Northern California. I currently drive a Scion and there are 23 dealers within 25 miles of San Francisco. smart appears to be following the dealer pattern established by the mini, which has 4 dealers within 30 miles of San Francisco. But none in Fresno or Bakersfield, two large Central California Cities.

SFO and San Jose are either completed construction or just about finished. Next closest to you would be Santa Barbara, then the LA dealers in North Hollywood and Beverly Hills.

San Francisco is ready to go, but the San Jose dealership hasn't got beyond a sign. It's several months away and if another post is accurate, will work out of a Jaguar dealership a few blocks away. I can't find any verification for a Santa Barbara dealership although it makes some sense. Do you have any further information about it?
