Penske had hinted a few months ago that he wants to sell 40000 units annually. And Smart really needs to get out of the Cult car rut, and establish itself as a brand here in the U.S. 40000 units a year is Mini territory and that would just happen I believe. Now the bad news, due to the near Financial Meltdown, the dollar will be artificially prop up by foreign central banks only on 2009, so we expect to recieve our fortwo's at its present prices, by 2010 expect the dollar to lose 33 percent and 25 percent price increases on imported products . So let's hang on to our orders !

Where I come from, "sell for upwards of $12K" would mean that's the maximum you'd pay for one. Same as "up to $12K"?

Of course, the people I hang around talk kinda funny, LOL. Who knows?

Yesterday, I got a call from Smart Riverside, offering me an orphan Blue/silver pure with AC and Smart radio, I decided to pass, I will waite for my Passion with my exact color choice. Got three excellent late model cars, Ford F150SC, Honda Pilot and the Mercedes C class, I would have a problem driving which car if I bought the orphan. also the economic news nowadays really kills the buying mood, maybe a few months from now when the right orphan comes along I might be tempted to buy early
