Motor Trend February '08 Hard Copy

There's a great article in the Feb '08 Motor Trend about the Smart Fortwo that's very well suited and factual. Can't find the article online yet, though. One of my coworkers here at work left the magazine opened to the article here at my desk and I just read it. Pretty concisely written and all positive stuff.....

I agree with you, it was a very good review and article. I looked for it on their website as well, but didn't see it.

Is this it?

The time is right for Smart. It's affordable, fun, and economical to drive, all when people are watching their pennies, caring more about their carbon footprint, and desperately wanting off the drug that is foreign oil. The fourtwo is as safe as a car this size can be engineered to be, and it's a fashion statement and a half. Its size and two-seat-only configuration means it's not the right transportation choice for many, but a brilliant one for some. If you choose so, you'll absolutely enjoy the ride.

You might want to check out Feb 08 Automobile while you're there. They have a pretty decent spread on the smart too. Not quite as entusiastic as MT, but not bad either and lots of pics.

Yeah that's the same artice that's in the magazine. It seems to be the first unbiased, fair artice I've read. I noticed they describe the steering as "light". I assume that is with power steering? I also noticed that they mention the shifting ("leisurely") and warranty (longer converage is a factory option) but didn't complain about either one.

I was glad to see the article in my Motor Trend this week. One thing concerned me as I'm always watching my pennies. They said the Passion would be $14,500 - $15,000 and my confirmation said $13,590. They did mention most would add a couple options, I just don't want to see the price being inflated before they even get here! I've set a limit for myself of $15,000 and if it goes over that, I'll opt for something else. Does anyone think I'm being too cheap? Glenda
