0-60 = 12.2 seconds! smart should use that as their new time!
I've seen times from 11.7 to 14.4 seconds.
Unless there is a standardization of testing methods/techniques (manual versus auto, how it is launched, shift points, lifting to shift... etc), numbers for this are going to be all over the place... that and humidity and heat have a large effect on this car.
Deal breaker? $1.60 a tank will keep someone from owning a car? That's about $112/yr for a 20k yearly mile driver. Someone isn't thinkin' with their dipstick!
You need to own a Smart car and drive it everyday to appreciate it. Once you do, you wouldn't give it regular gas if you could.
Haha, did you catch the misquote of the weight? 1,080 lbs might be a bit scary on the road with our profile.
Damn you I was just about to say that. LOL and here is his quote:
Quote:
This fly-weight 1,080-pound rear-drive machine is powered by a 1.0-liter dual-cam 3-cylinder engine built by Mitsubishi with 70 horsepower and 68 pound-feet of torque.
The cost per mile is just a different way of viewing the numbers, but it offers the same insight. The point is that the cost per mile of the fortwo is the same as one for a car running regular unleaded that achieves 37.3 mpg. Thus, the need for premium fuel ends up "costing" the fortwo driver nearly 4 mpg.
What I meant is I didnt read before posting it I did read it still didnt like it. I thought the video was much better.

That being said, the video (which is pretty much reading of the scripted article) was positive. They applauded the shifting of this one as being better than the last model they tested, and they also said that they were surprised how well it kept up with the other cars on the road, contrary to what they thought it might do.
Even the original review (below) was rather positive (there's not much that can be argued that they complain about either) YouTube - smart fortwo on MotorWeek
If I didn't have all those people so concerned for my safety I'd even be smiling more. Oddly enough, the same people with the concern for my safety don't care about motorcycle riders the same way these complete strangers care about me (or all smart owners)
I guess us smart owners are just special since all these people are so concerned about us over all the other car owners.
