"A press release today on NASCARmedia.com announced that Kurt Busch, David Stremme and Sam Hornish Jr. would be test driving specially designed NASCAR Smart cars in the parking lot of famed Soldier Field.

Drivers will drive fuel-efficient smart fortwo cars through a number of "challenges" on a miniature road course to raise awareness for ways consumers can save fuel during the busy summer driving season.

Media in attendance will also have a chance to sample the Matchbox like smart fortwo cars, and drive them through the make shift road course."

I had no idea what they were but I saw a truck load of black smarts parked at a motel along the interstate in Indy the other evening. They appeared to have a NASCAR style number 12 on each car. Just got a quick look and tried to snap a picture (didn't get it). Maybe these were heading to this event?

If you try to race with a smart car you're going to lose unless you race other smart cars.

Perhaps if the other car ran out of gas first? Perhaps a Smart car can win with endurance? like the Cannonball Europe was won by a Smart car?

There is a blurb about it on Penske Racings web page, it's at noon at Soldier Field, anybody planning on going? I'm close enough, I may just make the trip and see if I can get in.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking......After all, the "12" is a Penske number in NASCAR.
