What I'd really love in a cruise control is the ability to hypermile just a bit - i.e. control how large a range around set_speed so if I'm going over a hill, and speed drops 5mph, then bring it back up ever so slightly. One of the disadvantages of most factory CC's is that range is like 2MPH which ends up using more gas from the aggressive throttle. Especially in my Explorer, which will happily downshift to preserve that 2MPH it just lost when the hill's almost over and I'd be happy with a 5MPH drop. That said, I couldn't imagine the math and programming behind it - maybe the unknowns are too many.
Incorporating hypermiling, specifically "pulse-and-glide," was discussed before the 2.0 version was developed. I'm not sure if Area 451 incorporated, but they seemed open to it, so perhaps it's one of the 16 pedal maps. Guess we'll have to wait to find out!

I've been thinking the same thing about the 451 cruise. I'd like to see an "Eco" mode that has a gradual curve to the acceleration phase instead of FLOOR IT to get up to speed when doing a resume or climbing a hill. Just let the speed drop 5-7 mph on hills before gradually accelerating on the other side. That's what I do manually and it'd be nice if the cruise could do it. It could be one of the new modes that could be set on the DIP switches or by SG.

One of the pedal maps is "economy" but I don't yet know how it's implemented.

A few of us have been testing for a couple of days now.

So far a few tweaks here and there but overall the new cruise program is better than version 1.

The pedal mapping feature is fantastic. It has 12 different options that can be set either by the SG or switches on the unit. Throttle response is much better.

I also like the feature where you can turn off the car and then have the cruise remember what speed you were set at when you get back on the road.

A great product made even better. You guys are going to love this.

Looking forward to the upgrade! When are they looking at finishing up with the Beta & having the final version ready?

No date as of yet......

Beta testing will continue for a while and software will be tweaked

The gang at Area 451 are great and they are very quick to get things right. Of course, this fabulous product was fantastic "out the door"; they are just making a great product even better

I'm SURE all will be notified when Beta testing is over and upgrades are available.

Looks like you Beta testers are having a ball

Take your time on the beta, make sure the kinks are worked out. I hope the Minnesota installer will be able to do upgrades versus mailing in my CC.

Based on some of the beta tester posts so far I'm not sure v2.0 is enough of an improvement for me; the pedal mapping sounds great but not at the expense of smoothness at lower speeds and on hills. So, on the fence at this point.
