You may get a 2010 model. By then..they may offer GOLD panels rather than yellow..which could look fabulous...if it's done right. VW Bugs had a gold color back in the 70's I'd LOVE to have for my smart.

Info from "Over There" has it that the new '09 red will be non-metalic, molded-in-color (MIC). For those who have them or will get them, the much-maligned '08 metallic, "La Tomatina"-red panels may increase in desirability. I'd have to guess that the new grey replacing yellow will also be MIC.

Künftig könnte sogar die Brabus-Version mit mhd erhältlich sein. Ab 2009 wird dann in Los Angeles der aktuelle fortwo (C451) als Elektro-Auto und Lithium-Ionen Batterie in einem 2. Feldversuch nach London eingesetzt. Danach (Ende 09 / Anfang 2010) wird der fortwo ab Werk mit Elektro-Antrieb (electric drive) erhältlich sein."

Or, more familiar: "For the model 09, starting August/September 08, two new colors: a "uni-red" (the metallic red and uni-yellow will be discontinued) and a new "grey"...

Thanks for the translation. My grandfather moved here form Germany as a teen and was very bilingual but tended to speak german around us grandchildren only when angry, Mom and Dad never would translate for us, wouldn't allow him to either.

Everytime I enter my DDE all I get is the "we can not estimate your delivery date at this time" responce. Outside of going in to the dealership and drooling over the cars or going in back and stalking them outside I have no idea of when to expect my toy. Orignally I was told 18 months when I reserved on 4/21/08 so I got on the orphans list. I would like some idea so I can make plans for the rest of the year; ie: vacations, new furniture, timeoff....................................
Of course, beiing on the orphans list I "could" have a car tomorrow or next week, next month, next year........... lord I hate not knowing!

hmm, I would have prefered the gray over the silver, I wonder though if it will work well as a contrast with the black tridion as the silver. I think thats the most wonderfull thing about this car is that in the future with new colors, I can get them!

nonuro, you are not alone, I saw in an earlier thread that as many as 20% of us are not yet assigned in the DDE. I reserved in Feb with a res # of 1507 same DDE message as you.

Yesterday, I dropped my Smart off at the dealer (Smart Center Chandler) as I got the "check engine" light that won't turn off (yes, I've been making sure to close the gas cap completely). While there, I popped into to see what Smart's they had on display. There was an awesome green (like a Kelly green) and black passion coupe and outside was a mint green/gray/black combo. I didn't hang long enough to ask if these were new colors for 09. If they are—there's going to be some really cool color options for 09. If you're waiting on a Smart still, you can at least hope they get the check engine light coming on around 1000 miles taken car of.

The new 2009 colors are up on the German smart configurator: www.smart.com . It appears that the new grey is a metallic, as it is grouped with metallic blue and metallic silver. It probably looks pretty classy, though it doesn't do much for on-road visibility, a safety isssue. The new red is MIC.
