I did ask about the lack of information (that was the purpose of my original letter to Penske) and while it's not the way I would do things they did not want to provide info unless it was certain and there has been much uncertainty.

I even talked to him about this forum and they are familiar with it but they don't feel it is an appropriate vehichle for their communication with their customers for a wide variety of reasons.

They see the value of this forum to all of us but did not feel they should directly participate.

I sought specific information from a PAG official and passed on what I could.

Frankly I was so shocked and impressed that he would take the time to call me at home on a Sat afternoon that I did not want to abuse him by overdoing the questions or showing a lack of respect for his time.

I'm deeply sorry I didn't get answers to every question that has been posted on this forum.

ACKN. It appears to be real, and that you actually did ask the right questions on our behalf. Sorry to ping at max dB. Thanks for all.

Come on now. I think everyone should let this go. KWAGAR was nice enough to share most of the important information from his conversation that he felt he could and a lot of it is what everyone has been clamoring for. Those of you that reserved on day 1 will probably have all the information you need within the very next week. Give some of this stuff a rest already. Sheesh!

I don't know why he wants to keep it confidential but I asked him how many of the new 451s were at the ports and ready to be shipped.

He told me the number. I will simply say it is more than I have seen posted here as being "in country" and a higher number than I would have guessed.

One more thing Dave told me.....He said I would be very pleased to drive the new US smart in comparison to the models we all drove during the road show. He was quite excited about the improvements.

Those of us fortunate enough to snag a drive in the US spec model at the last road show in DC will probably tend to agree with him. It is a much more well rounded car.

The pics of the interior from the Motor Trend article in another post on here look noticeably better and much nicer than what we test drove. After seeing the pics my expectation level has been raised a bit.
