I understand why they aren't talking numbers. But good to know that there are apparently "a lot" all ready in country!

I, too, agree that the US spec cars are much nicer than the ones from the road show. The fit and finish, changes in the gear shift and the timing changes in the shifts (driven at the smart house) were much improved.

So even with the road show having less than stellar models, there are still oodles of reservations? I'll bet that any folks that drop out for whatever reason will have their cars snapped up by those that aren't aware that these vehicles are even coming. There really hasn't been any advertising that I can think of other than word of mouth from all the rabid fans on this board.

I am hoping that we get some more feedback next week as to real dropout rates and if those of us that really want our cars ASAP will have any quicker routes to get our cars?

Yes, indeed. Good job, Kwagar! I had a feeling that sooner or later someone from higher up would respond to something/someone from here, given the persistance of the group as a whole.
And information that I got a couple of weeks ago from my dealer, that she asked be kept confidential, fits in with what he told you.... That told me what you had heard was legit.
Anyway...great news and soon we will be reporting gas mileage and other important things on here in support of the best little car ever to hit the USA! I am also very glad to hear about the transmission shifting improvements....not that that was going to deter my getting my car or anything......

I am still in great anticipation of knowing what number I am here at my local dealer. Time will tell....and soon, too!!!!!!!!

He told me the number. I will simply say it is more than I have seen posted here as being "in country" and a higher number than I would have guessed.

That number is (will) be around 600 - including the latest shipment due to arrive this week. This means only about half of the 1173 club will get their cars later this month (which may be a cause for hysterics in the other half of the 1173 club! ;) )
