Official Wheels

I emailed the smart support desk about the standard 9-spoke wheels, and received the following reply:

"Dear smart Enthusiast, The 9-spoke wheels on the Passion Model are the ones shown on the following page site: http://www.smartusa.com/smart-fortwo-cabrio.aspx I apologize for the confusion! If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact us via email or by phone at 1.800.smartusa. Thank you for your interest in smart USA. You will be hearing from us soon!"

9 Spokers

I think what is adding the "knobbly-ness" to the 9-spoke wheels as shown in the link is that we are seeing the brake caliper behind them (between the spokes). There are similar but much larger photos in the '06 Canadian cdi and '07 UK 451 and brochures that show them, and they are quite smooth and not bad looking. Good opportunity to paint the calipers some wild Brembo-esque color!

Yeah, I agree. Now I've seen a few larger / better photos, I'm starting to like 'em more....

Why then however does the Cabrio wheels look different than the coupes?
Or is it just me?

It's not you. The coupe is shown with 12-spoke wheels, which will not be fitted on the actual cars coming to the US. Both the coupe and the cabrio will come with the 9-spoke design shown on the cabrio.

I wish there was more than one small picture of the wheels. They arent even on the downloads page. I wish they had those wheels as options.

Our Wheels

Go to the international smart site ( http://www.smart.com ). The 9-spoke wheels you first see not the ones. Go to "UK." At the upper left click “smart fortwo,” then either "coupe" or "cabrio." Then down near the bottom center click “smart fortwo brochure” (a .pdf). After downloading the .pdf, go to page 21-of-29 (Optional equipment). Those are our 9-spoke wheels.
