Wow... this is a busy forum... I leave for 2 days and there are new 136 posts! Sorry to hear what happened Ativan! I took my kids along Friday evening... but we did not ask to drive the cars. I have the day off tomorrow cause of the holiday so was planning to spend some quality time with the cars.
Here's a picture from the back lot of the Bloomfield Dealership from this morning. I stopped by before flying back to Omaha. I sure wish this was a scene from the Omaha dealership instead!
Spent a good hour down at the dealership today looking at the 3 demos inside and talking to other customers (most were also reservation holders). There was a waiting list for test drives with a steady flow of people coming in with 2 cars running. Eight more cars came earlier today (which if my math is correct means they got 11 customer cars in now). First delivery was today (a lady from Lincoln). Computers should be up and running in the next few days to order accessories, but they are hoping to stock the basics (like the winter floor mats I was looking for).
I'd have to agree! Ryan and TJ were running non-stop yesterday on test drives. I heard numerous pages then went unanswered over the intercom. Unfortunately I have a feeling it will get worse before it gets better. With the car show starting in a few days I assume they will be there showing off the Smart. And once the show is over I’m sure there will be a flood of people in to test drive. Good thing is the cars seem to keeping coming so I assume there is “motivation” to get them delivered to customers as soon as possible.
I just talked to Ryan (after no returned call from Friday), and he's hoping to have another truck next week, but they haven't been told anything specific. Apparently, there are "5 more to go" before me (I'm an 1174). I'm really trying not to be "that guy" who calls every day to check status, but the suspense is killing me. I guess, when I had the first conversation with Ryan two weeks ago, he led me to believe that MY car would be arriving on the 16th, so it's just frustrating when you don't get ANY updates.
That's great to hear about another shipment next week! I'm right there with you (1174 and #15 on the list). And as far as the dates all car dealers play it conservative (from my experience). That way when the car shows up 3 weeks early the dealer looks like a hero. Honestly at this point I'm happy to wait until February 1... with today's fed rate cut my credit union will be cutting rates on the first of the month which will save me money on the car loan.
Hey guys, got my smart tonight!!! They need to hire a receptionist or add some extra help at least for awhile as the demand is great, I am sure Ryan feels like he is being wrung through the ringer. Anyway, back to the smart. It rides great!!! Cabriolet. Every option. More pickup than I thought it would have. The delivery went fast and smooth. I had called ahead, so most paperwork was done and ready. After saying I wasn't going to, I went ahead and got the 6 year 60,000 mile warranty for 995 extra. Four extra years of warranty. I will also be getting my windows tinted. Ryan apologized for not letting me or my daughter ride by ourselve. It is some stupid Smart policy. Overall, I was satisfied. In and out. Car in hand. If anyone in the Omaha area wants to see it or hear about more details let me know. I already have turned heads at stop signs and some young kid almost sideswiped me as he was recording the car on his cell phone hanging out the window when driving!!!!!
I have a truck that will be under warranty for 3 years or 36k miles.
My plan is to buy the Smart to keep the mileage down on the truck and not need to replace it for the rest of my life. The smart would become my primary commute vehicle. I'm thinking about cancelling, just so I can drive the truck for another 2 years and get all of the warranty mileage out of it, then buying the Smart. This way I can also maybe get a cdi?? With the current economic slowdown the price of gas is about to get cheaper, so that doesn't help either.

Congrats Ativan! You got pictures? Also did they have an options list of what all you can get (like the tint, paint protection, and so on?) I'd be interested to see what my options are. Lastly, who is your insurance company (Allstate is giving me a hard time saying the car is not in the system for Nebraska)? See you around town!
