I'd like to say congrats, but a scab is a scab. It's like the type of person who passes you on the right in a traffic back-up, just to cut back in well past the allowable distance. This type of behavior on your and the dealers part is the thread that is ruining our country. What ever happened to integrity, etc.
You're "casting the first stone" in the wrong direction. If a rezo holder gets an orphan, other rezo holders in line get a shot at their's earlier! The dealer is GOING to sell a car as quickly as possible, so better it be to a rezo holder than a walk in who did not pay the $99.00.

Remember we're talking about car salesman here. Not that there all bad but I'd say a lot. If O.B. didn't get the car someone else would. Salesman have to make a living. Commissioned sales can bring out the worst in people. I know, I was a victim.
Orphan Strategy #3a: ALWAYS be available by PHONE for dealer orphan calls-hire an undocumented worker, if neccessary.
When choosing or configuring colors, be aware that the silver tridion option makes the vehicle TRI-COLORED-example:blue/silver tridion with black tailgate and black hardtop (pure)
In other words, all tailgates and hardtops are BLACK
The dealers do not necessarily require a reservation # when purchasing orphans-these policies vary-I did not sacrifice my original rez #(that I am aware of)
There is conjecture that all orphan procedures will be standardized in favor of current rez holders in the dealers zip region- may never be fully enforceable.

I think they could easily make orphans go to reservation holders, but trying to do it in any kind of order based on reservation number is unlikely. It would be logical if the dealers tried to sell the orphans to reservation holders who had not yet configured, and have them surrender their number when they accepted the car. That way configured cars would still be coming to the owners that had ordered them, and not end up being new orphans. Kind of a win win.
Good advice. "Wheel and tire" coverage for me was offered at around $350-$400 and "paint protection" at around $1200. Extended warranties came in a couple of choices. The dealers are all offering extras that can add up quickly so have your questions ready.
I was treated very fairly and my dealer answered every question quickly and honestly. Niello Sacramento is an excellent dealership. It was a very positive experience.
All Orphan Hunters-some dealers are quick to add EXTRAS and modify the original configurations.
For those interested in portable GPS navigation, my NAVIGON 5100 with Nav-mat works/fits well on dashboard. It offers lifetime traffic info also. (purchased for $200)(2100 model allows purchase of traffic info later-$75)

I fail to see how someone getting on a list and working to call dealers to get a car that someone else did not want a scab. It's not like we all couldn't call around - I'm just more particular about what I want.
This isn't about comparing someone passing someone on the right - he did nothing wrong, and this post seems to be a bit out of line. Instead of insulting him, you should be congratulating him.
Glad to see one more new smart on the road, hopefully, making the smart's intro to the US, a success. It is tough to wait and wait for those who have reserved, but it should all be worth it. Hope so.
I am getting an orpan too in the next couple weeks. I worked DAMM hard to get my dealership to call me when one became available. I think they did because the car orphaned is exactly as my specs are. Also, they know I love the car and they are my delearship. I gladly paid the reservation of $500.00
you know, the game is open to EVERYONE. If you REALLY want your smart earlier, there is nothing restricting you from calling people and getting your way. The squeeky wheel ALWAYS gets the grease. In my care, i called numerous times , was always courteous and pleasant. I think it helped when a car was orphaned, they thought of me and called me. In my book, it pays to be the persistent and tenacious one!
