Watch the old TV news from 2000 or 2001. I remember all of the people howling about how they could not afford to drive to work and stuff. Gas prices have now far exceeded those prices and we have way more layoffs now than back then making it harder to afford today's gas prices more than ever.

#1 - I don't drive it, I drive zippy. It was my Dad's truck. He used to drive it 2 miles 3 times a week to the coffee shop- to hash out the old days with his buddies. I got it last year after he passed. I don't think I've put 1,000 miles on it in 14 months including the 700 miles to drive it home. This 19 year old truck has 56K miles.
#2 - see #1.
BTW - when did 18 mpg on a 19 year old truck become a 'gas hog'? It minimally qualifies as a "clunker" for this propgram.
This truck blue books at around 1100. I can get 4,500 on this program. What do you think
Cash for Clunkers is for?
