Oswego Luxury dealer of gray market 450's in the Portland Area has closed amidst customer complaints. Apparently he would sell cars on consignment, not give the money to the sellers AND not hand over the titles to the new owners.
Remember they used to advertise here?
Couldn't find much detail, but the TV news this morning kept mentioning "local smart car dealer".
Yay!
I'm pretty sure this is this is the same guy who had a consignment lot just outside of Portland several years ago...
When his lot closed up here, my car disappeared with him, the police said the owner lived in Lake Oswego.
I had a heck of a time filing a stolen car report as I'd voluntarily left the car with him. It took about a year to get the police to listen...
For the year it was missing, I was still making payments and carrying full coverage insurance.
A week after the my report was filed, my car was totaled. Insurance doesn't cover cars while on consignment.
An expensive and heart breaking lesson for me.
My heart goes out to his victims... I am so glad the authorities were actually able to get this guy!
Oswego Customers: Call us if you need any assistance
We'll be happy to do what we can for any Oswego Luxury customer that feels abandoned. If you know of any, or if you are one, call my cell phone at 314-583-9935 or email me at info@asmartcar.com in St. Louis. We can't help with any of the legal matters, but for support information, we can probably either help you or point you in the right direction. Don't know the circumstances surrounding these folks, but we had actually heard good feedback from some of their customers in responsiveness and fairness. Looks like they took the wrong path at some point. Very sad.
A closer dealer than us is Green Car Company out of Seattle, but we'll be glad to help anyone.
Yay!

That is awful!
Clackamas county sheriff’s office believes there are many more victims than the first 7. I would give them a call, perhaps they can revisit your case.
Seaman, 32, faced the criminal charges for selling cars he took on consignment at his dealership, Oswego Luxury, and failing to pay sellers or provide titles to buyers. He specialized in upscale makes such as Mercedes, Porsche and Lexus.
Awww come on now Suze. With a last name like Seaman hasn't he suffered enough in his life? Karma will get him soon enough. Keep an eye on him and wait patiently in the shadows.........
