After reading that I'm wondering if the dealers will try to screw you on trade-in to make up for that "gouging" they were not allowed to do. I'm not giving car away to a dealer for thousands less than it's blue book trade-in value. I could be really pesimistic here but that is the one thing I'm afraid of with this whole deal. If me getting the car is dependent on getting decent trade value and they want to pad their profits there then I'll lose my car and it will go orphan. The dealer has no incentative to possibly offer decent ammount of trade value as they can just sell car to next person who'll let them low ball them on their trade-in.
J. Good positive review from a key source in the auto marketing world.
I had the opportunity to look over the new 2009 Brabus this week... It was an all black dazzler.
The Smart heads will jump on this car big time.
Love it. A2Jack
Where did you get to see it? Lucky you! The article mentioned 1800 people reserving a Brabus SMART the 1st day. I wonder if that's how many the US will be getting
Fpage. In todays market, dealers don't want your trade-in especially your Smart dealer, as he will only get auction price for it.
So unless you plan to take a very low ball price, sell it yourself. That's the way it has always worked. A2Jack.
Thanks for the heads up, it seems what I feared was true. I guess I'll be looking for a bridge loan and hope my bank dosen't balk at me haveing a car loan and bridge loan and refuse my loan. I do have a carmax in my town and they advertise they will buy any car. I think I'm going to take this line of questioning over to general forum now.

Unofficial look/see.
I don't think these will hit the dealer showrooms for awhile yet, but it looks worth waiting for.
I read the same blurb as you and, that's all the info I have too. Sorry. (BTW, I didn't dare ask if I could shoot a photo ) A2Jack
I've bought two....no trade in. A M-B Smart dealer does nnot want your trade....sell it yourself of keep it. My Concorde had been paid for so I kept it. And glad I did....have had some unplanned trips where I needed 4 seats.
not at SCI.....they don't TAKE TRADES! no used car sales at all......WEIRD!
Do you blame them? Look at their lot, where would they put used cars? I was told they would have taken my car on trade, but I was lucky and managed to sell my previous car privately about 6 weeks before my smart came in. Best of all we were both happy, he has a car that gets twice the mileage of his SUV, and I have my smart that gets twice the mileage of my old car!
